What Target Lists are for
Target Lists help your team answer: which buyers should we act on for this GTM motion? A Target List usually represents a single signal-based motion — for example, buyers who visited your pricing page, or buyers who visited your homepage — each running as its own workflow and adding matching buyers automatically.Creating a Target List
- From the Target Lists page, select Add Target List.
- Enter a Name and Description, then save. The list is created in Draft status.
- Open the list’s Workflow tab and configure the Buyers step’s Signals Filter and Buyers Filter (see below).
- Once the workflow is configured, a Workflow ready! Hit Run to build your list. banner appears. Select Run to activate the list and start capturing matching buyers.
Target List structure
Target List status
The Target Lists page lists your lists with filter tabs — All, Running, Not Running, Draft, and Deleted — so you can quickly see where each list stands.- Draft — the list has been created but hasn’t been run yet, or its workflow hasn’t been fully configured.
- Running — the list’s workflow is active and capturing matching buyers. Use Stop at the top of the list to pause it.
- Not Running — the list’s workflow has been stopped, or finished based on its Workflow settings.
- Deleted — the list has been removed.
- How long a Running list keeps capturing new buyers depends on its Workflow settings (see below).
Workflow tab
The Workflow tab shows how a Target List is built, as three steps:- Start — defines the list: its name, description, and how long the workflow runs.
- Buyers — where you configure the Signals Filter and Buyers Filter that determine which buyers are captured, and shows the buyers matched so far with a running count.
- End — marks the end of the workflow.
Workflow settings
Configured on the Start step, these control how long a Target List keeps running:- Runs continuously until stopped — Keeps running and checking for new signals until you pause it.
- Runs until a selected date — Runs automatically and stops on the date you choose.
- Runs once only — Runs a single time, then stops automatically.
Configuring the Buyers step
The Buyers step is where you define the rule that determines which buyers a Target List captures. It has two filters:Signals Filter
Sets which website activity counts as a match, based on Page URL and how buyers engaged with it:- Page URL — choose contains, is, or starts with, then pick or type a URL. An autocomplete suggests your configured Target Pages (for example, a homepage tagged Exact Match, or a pricing page tagged Contains).
- Visit count — add a sub-condition with an operator (is greater than, is greater than or equal to, is less than or equal to, is between, equal to) and a numeric value.
- Total time spent — add a sub-condition with similar operators and a duration (minutes and seconds).
Buyers Filter
Narrows the match further by who the buyer is:- Choose ICP or Persona as the field.
- Choose an operator: is (a single ICP or persona) or is any of (opens a multi-select list of ICP or persona tags — select as many as apply).
Previewing and saving
As you add conditions, a live count above the filters shows how many buyers currently match (for example, “3 out of 10 buyers”). Select Preview contacts to open a modal listing the matched buyers, with columns for Buyer, Company, Signals, Persona, Title, and ICP. When you’re satisfied with the match, select Save Buyers to apply the filter to the step. Save Buyers stays disabled until you’ve made a valid change.Buyers tab
The Buyers tab shows everyone currently captured in the Target List. It typically includes:- Buyer — name and LinkedIn profile
- Company — logo, name, and LinkedIn profile
- Persona — the buyer’s matched persona (for example, Engineer / Developer, Lead / Eng Mgr, DevOps, Buyer)
- Title — the buyer’s job title
Buyer profile
Selecting a buyer — from a Target List’s Buyers tab, or from the workspace-level Buyers page — opens their profile in a side panel. The header shows the buyer’s name, role, company, matched Persona and ICP, and email. The panel has four tabs:- Person Info — first and last name, role, created and updated dates, address, and contact channels (phone, email, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, GitHub).
- Company Info — company name, short name, website, description, industry, technologies, founded year, revenue, employee count, and created date.
- Signals — the buyer’s signal activity, grouped by day, showing the source page, the matched Target Page, and time spent.
- Target Lists — every Target List this buyer belongs to, showing each list’s buyer count, workflow status, and the date this buyer was added to it.
Naming Target Lists
A good Target List name should describe the signal or motion it captures. Good examples: Website Visitors (pricing page), Website Visitors (homepage). The name should help your team understand what the list is capturing without opening it.Example Target List
Here is an example from a live workspace. How Target Lists connect to Destinations
Target Lists are the audience layer for Destinations. Pushing a Target List to a Destination sends the buyer contact and company records captured in that list — not the list itself — to HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack, or a webhook. See Destinations.Best practices
- Keep each list focused on one signal or motion — for example, one Target Page at a time, rather than mixing multiple pages or motions into a single list.
- Preview before you save — use Preview contacts on the Buyers step to check who a filter would capture before committing it with Save Buyers.
- Set the right run duration — use “Runs continuously” for evergreen motions, a selected end date for time-boxed campaigns, or “Runs once only” for a one-time pull.
- Review buyer quality regularly — check persona and ICP fit, and use Search, Filter, and Export CSV to review or share the list.
- Stop lists you no longer need — pause a list’s workflow once the motion is done, so stale audiences don’t keep pushing to Destinations.
Troubleshooting
- My list is stuck in Draft — Confirm both the Signals Filter and Buyers Filter on the Buyers step are configured and saved, and that the Start and End steps show Ready, then select Run.
- I don’t see buyers in my Target List — Confirm the list is Running, and that its Signals Filter and Buyers Filter conditions actually match live signal activity.
- My list stopped adding new buyers — Check the Workflow settings on the Start step: it may have reached a selected end date, or been set to run once.
- I can’t find a specific buyer — Use Search or Filter on the Buyers tab, or check the buyer’s own profile — the Target Lists tab shows every list they belong to.
